Pascagoula High student request funding for Hope Squads in local schools

One Coast high school student traveled to the state capital to request funding for a special group in all Mississippi schools.

Kaylee Barron is a Pascagoula High student and is part of the school’s Hope Squad.

‍

A Hope Squad is a way for teens struggling with mental health issues to feel welcomed and have a group for support.

‍

Members of the squad learn the risk factors and warning signs for suicide, also learning to help struggling classmates and how social media affects mental health.

‍

Kaylee met with senators and legislators as a way to request funding for the creation of a Hope Squad in all state schools.
